had something very simular happening with my friends 70. we pulled it down to where the switch is exposed then hosed it down with electrical contact cleaner and it started working again. If you do pull it out it is very straight forward. The only area that might be a problem is maybe fitting the wire plug through the rubber gromet without cutting or breaking it. On the one I did the PO had already cut that grommet so I dont know how hard it is to get it through
