There is absolutely no reason to spend $700.00 on adding power steering, unless you really want to.

All you need is a '68-'87 C series truck power steering box and pitman arm. For the pump, you will need one from the same year range, but it will need to mattch the hose fitting style of the box. Those changed in about 1980. The brackets and pulleys will depend on what engine you have and what style of water pump.

You can do it on a budget using, good used parts. When I built my Suburban 20+ years ago, I installed a good used steering box and pump. I put over 120,000 miles on that, and the seals on the box are just now starting to leak just slightly. The pump works just fine and doesn't leak a drop. Granted this may be an exception, but even if you get a couple years out of used parts. Just replace them with new or rebuilt parts when they start to leak or give problems.
