Backfire

I recently finished my motor and after installing my throttle rod and kickdown cable I now backfire or cut out completly when I accelerate.

I no longer have timing marks on my timing cover with the new one, so I am kinda goofing with the distributor to get it runnable. I am taking it to a tune-up and Dyno shop tomorrow, but am wondering if I will make it there. About 10 miles of freeway..

It ran pretty good before I messed with the cables today. Could I have messed something up? Could I just have dirty fuel and clogged the filter??

Help!!!!
