My brother ran 2 1/2's straight back off his mostly stock 400 w/ quadrajet setup (1977 K10). I've heard those are really better motors for torque anyways, so I'd retain the low-end if I was you. Brother was really happy with the 2 1/2, great sound and power, no install issues. Good luck!
