This appears to be the pitch, but I don't buy it. Most pickups are '64's, which are practically indentical to '65's which are practically indentical to '66's. There would have been no problem selling these vehicles to the rural farm market or any other typical market in the country. The way this trucks were set up is very typical of thousands and thousands of Chevy trucks that were sold pre 1967. Chevy always sold more 6 cyl trucks than V8 trucks pre '67. You know as well as I do, these trucks would have sold immediately on any car lot in America with these options assuming there were no legal problems ( title) or flood damage. It may be hard for some to believe today, but longbed trucks always outsold shortbed trucks when new during the 60's 70's and 80's. I can see retiring the used clunker trade ins, but any late model unused truck would have sold pronto.
