Yes its a 1/2 ton. Def keeping the 292. It's matching numbers so I don't think it will ever be pulled out. At least not by me it wont. Now when I pass it to my future kids, i dunno what they will do. But for the next 50yrs its staying in. lol
Short history on this project. When I started looking/love affair for a 63-66 my checklist was, all original untouched body, inline 6, preferably 292 but at that time any I6, 3 spd on the tree for sure and longbed. I ended up finding this truck about 15 miles from my house, my cousin lived down the road from him and knew i was looking for an old truck, my cuz had no idea what year or anything just saw it sitting behind an abandon farm house. So i drove by to see if i could see it from the road.
Well their was someone out mowing the yard, so I was like perfect I'm gonna stop and ask if he knew whose truck it was. Ended up it was his, he was prolly a 75 year old farmer, it was on his farm. Was his farm truck since the eighties. It had sat for several years and only moved it to mow when he came out. The guy could instantly tell I was in love with it. It matched all my criteria and more. So I asked him a price, he shot out 900 but he wasn't sure about selling it. I left him my landscape business card to call me first if he ever wanted to sell it and said I would be there the week he called me to pick it up. He called about a week later, and asked about weedeating his ditch at the farm since he couldnt do it anymore and it had gotten too tall to mow. So 850 cash and weedeating a ditch and she was all mine.
It was kinda sad to tow it away, I gave him the cash near the fence that led to a long lane to get back to the truck and we did the title work. It was time to pull it out because it had started up for 6months now and he didn't know why. He left right after we did the exchange and I saw a tear. He left before we could get back to the truck and left us on his property. You could tell it was his baby. But little did he know that it was about to become a part of my family lol
Sorry for the long winded story. I just find it to be a good one.
