I am actually surprised... From what I read on many posts a running valve lash adjustment is pretty common. It makes since. The lifters are filled with oil. Wouldn't you want the motor and oil to be up to temperature when you adjust the lash? Perhaps my rockers came loose because I didn't tighten them enough.

Also, I dont see how oil is going to splash everywhere as long as you have a "cut" valve cover.....?
