Parallel with a locating link or some sort is a bit more stable for something with some power and traction I think.

Have you looked into just using 1" .156 wall DOM and tapping it for your heims? I put in an Alston Racecars 4 link kit and welded up a 9" housing for a Nova with over 1200hp and it used links done this way and works great for him. They do look a little thin but there are thousands of drag cars done this way so it's defiantly overkill for anything with street tires.
