I know the engine, and tranny are very basic for a swap. Also the tranny uses a mechanical speedo so it looks pretty straight forward to my eyes.
On the fuel system can I use the C2500 fuel sender in the carb'd burban tank or do I need to use a burban unit.
So when we were looking it seems the engine management does not tie into the chassis wiring. Is this true? If he goes through with this I do not want to get tied into a 1000 pick a part runs to correct anything.

Early TBI harness do not tie into engine bay electrical systems. You do need to have BAT and IGN circuit tie in. Also, starter solenoid S terminal is required by TBI harness.
In the cab you'll need to have: SES light, ALDL connector, P/N switch, brake switch (second set of contacts) and you'll need 2000 ppm inline VSS to provide vehicle speed signal to ECM. All of this has been discussed in the TBI swap thread which has been dormant for awhile..
I can not comment on the fuel sender unit - sorry.
