I wouldn't think they would hum or whine as long as the backlash is set correctly. I saw 1 service bulletin on them about a squeak they tend to make but by adding GM Posi fluid to the unit it quiets the worm gears down. I am going to have this unit installed professionally so the backlash should be ok. I don't think my 4cyl 2.2's going to rip the guts out of it too easy

If santa brings me one this year I'll let you guys know how I like it. Out to the local parking lot to see how she cuts donuts
