I had a similar problem. I replaced the steering box, the pump, the hoses, the tie rod ends, the pitman shaft, etc. Completely replaced everything you could replace, pretty much. Still had the symptoms you have now.
The symptoms disappeared one day when I put it in 4 wheel drive to climb a hill.
I believe the problem was a sticking front axle u-joint (steering knuckle) and the 4 wheeling kicked it loose again. Periodically I'd get the symptoms again and could solve it by running it in 4wd for a short distance on loose gravel, etc.
I need to replace the knuckles, but haven't had the time.
