I ordered the plaid cloth from SMS Fabrics and they seem to have had lots of it in stock so I got enough for two seats. I'm not sure if this is NOS or reproduced but it seems to be of good quality. The original seat vinyl is still in pretty good shape so I want to find a good upholsterer to re-do the seat in this cloth back to its original factory spec.

Nice looking truck! Unfortunately it also presents a dilemma. The dominate stripes have been established as running up and down the seat (floor to roof) on Chevrolet Highlanders. Posted references state that GMC used stripes running across the seat (door to door). However there are very few confirmed original seat GMC Highlanders to verify this either way. The brochures for both Chevrolet and GMC show this across the seat stripes but it appears to be an optical illusion or a running change between advertising and production.
At this point I am inclined to believe that the stripes ran vertical on all Highlander plaid covers Chevrolet or GMC. The one GMC Jimmy I know of would seem to back this up as well.
Even the GMC data book showing the plaid fabric samples seems to have both directions. For what it is worth as a fourth generation upholsterer/trimmer I have had my share of issues with material direction and pay very close attention to it.
So if I may suggest, give Jocko a PM shout and see what he has to share about his "new" Highlander seatcover adventure.
