wow this thread is almost 2 years old!
however, I would do something different that not many others do. like...a 1/2 ton, lwb, 2wd truck, with no options. restore it to stock. actually there is a truck like this close to my house...'72 GMC C/1500, lwb stepside, 250/3spd, only options are paint and interior colors. from texas, no rust thru (!). bed is pristine too.
