One thing that you have to keep in mind is that the woodgrain on these skins is just that: skins. And this is exactly how the originals were made.
If you look at the picture, the way the woodgrain is sitting on the floor is causing it to curve inward. If you rolled up that door skin into a tube shape horizontally (woodgrain inward) so that the wood grain faced toward the inside of the tube, the woodgrain will become very wrinkled, as pictured.
However, if you role it the opposite way (woodgrain outward), it will tighten. When glued down flush to the metal door panel, the skins are stretched tight and the wrinkled appearance wanes. Just thought I'd offer that food for thought.
