While the pumps are generally the same, the pump is just the inner round iron part, while there are lots of different reservoirs, and some other variations. Buying one from a random big block is a good way to get a pump you can't use.

Some also had remote reservoirs, such as BB SS Chevelles, vans and trucks w/ hydroboost brakes.
I'm considering switching to long water pump anyway, and he's selling the pump and brackets. I dunno, I have seen the prices at Rock Auto and stuff but they don't come with a pulley, which I'd need also. Kinda fishing right now anyway. Problem is this pump will fit under the alternator and be a PITA to check the fluid or even fill it right. The guy has the alternator brackets too, and pulleys. Going to just check out what he has and if it's reasonable I might go for it as long as it's all complete. Ahh, starting with nothing is fun.
