I've got a '66 C10 Shortbed stepside and I am installing a gas tank from a 65-68 Mustang in between my rear frame rails. I have to notch the top frame rails to get it to sit down, but then I just drill some holes in the frame where the tank flanges are and it bolts right in. No need for straps and it is low profile. The tanks are 16 gallons and I just have to update a fuel gauge to the Ford Ohm range of 10-73 ohms.

I bought the tank at a local salvage yard for $5. I'll clean it out with some Muratic Acid and then Flush. I will then make any repairs needed to it, then coat the outside with the Flex Seal spray in a can. So I'll have a rear mount fuel tank setup for under $50.
