Your right about them having to be strong. But those shafts could support a 1-ton wrecker or a tank. Do you have any idea the strength of a 1-1/8" bar of steel?
I would also buy aluminum spindles if somebody made them. There is no need for a half-ton truck to have stuff this heavy duty. All they are is heavy.
