well...
I have a 72 K5 and have had a 83 K5. The first problem I see is the shock mounts are different my 72 has both shocks on the front of the axel, Not the 83
I'm willing to bet the spring pads would have to be moved, I say this becuase I got a Dana 60 out of a 72 or maybe a 70 Blazer and had to move the pads.
The reason I when with a Dana 60 is the old 12b had died, But the thing with the 12b is someone had put it in and when they did it they put blocks on top of the pads for springs to line up on I asked Stephen Watson at ORD about it and the answer was the older chevys had the pad in more than the later yr chevys.
But other than those things it will bolt right in :p If you like I have a 12b out of a 73 I could get the spacing for you if like. I could very well be wrong.
