The best $ you will ever spend if you have valuable data is with StorageCraft desktop. It isnt cheap but it is so easy to restore the whole drive or a single document.

I have this at work and at home. I had an electrical storm nuke everything a year ago ( took out dishwasher, garage opener, 2 tv's, the alarm system AND the PC mother board/Power supply) but my data was safe on an external drive that wasnt plugged in.
