I am running a 4.8 out of an 05, cam, CAI, performance tune, headers and it runs hard and still gets @20MPG, double the HP my 350 had.

My concern isn't really the HP from the 4.8. This is going into my 87 LWB 4x4 truck that I use mostly for towing/hauling, picking up parts or materials. I don't tow anything really heavy or anything tho. I just remember my 01 silverado I owned about 5 years ago (single cab/stepside or sportside) had the 4.8 and it was a great lil truck but was afraid of hills and not real well at towing... May have had 3.08 gears tho not sure.
Although 20MPG is what Im shooting for!
