so I cut out a small piece around where I could tap my pointy hammer and bust through metal to rusty underside.


I cut a new piece and welded it in tack by tack and grinded it down.



As I ground I kept blowing off other tiny peices with rust underneath. I'd wirebrush and clean down to metal again and fill with weld.



anyway I've finally decided I need to cut out a bigger patch. My problem is I need to cut out the lip and am worried about making it look semi decent when putting in a patch panel or new piece I cut.
