What glass is it that you need. I own a glass company and &400 is a lot unless you have a 5 window and it's the curved glass. Everything other than the curved glass can be cut from laminated glass and it's not that much. You can also buy grey laminated if you want. However good tint has a uv protection that laminated doesn't.

Also they make scratch removal kits. I own a couple. $1500 and you can remove scratches even if they are deep enough to fill them. However it's usually not worth the time and effort. Just get a new piece made. The glass usually ends up getting distorted. There are a lot of options you can go though.

If it's the curved glass. A scratch resistant polycarbonate aka Lexan can work well. I prefer the real curved glass though. Just gets expensive if you chopped the cab and need a custom piece however it's all possible.
