I doubt you will see a lot of change from removing the short leaf. if you are looking to soften the ride i think it will help more if you pull a leaf from the middle. the longer ones will have a more noticeable effect.
i have the 2 1/2" ez rides on my K20 and they are not terribly smooth either. i have a set of rough country 4" springs that will probably end up on that truck but i have no idea how they ride in comparison. they have been sitting in my garage for several years without having been down the road.
