The other day when I was looking through both the LMC and Classic Industries catalog I noticed you can get a OER tailgate now that is manufactured to exact GM specifications so it doesn't dent easily like the old reproductions used to and the best part is it's only $300 where as if if you can find an original in excellent condition that needs no work they want $400-500 for it, but why spend that much when you can buy a reproduction that is perfect in every way including durability for much less?
