The coils are heat treated in the manufacturing process to make them elastic and to give them strength. Heating the coil to lower the vehicle height removes the temper and the elasticity from the coil and could cause it to collapse with the wrong weight or force on it.

Spend the money and get a good quality set of springs at the ride height you want. I don't advise cutting costs on suspension or brake components.
