It loosens up the rattle ball, and also increases the pressure of the propellant so the can doesn't start spitting half way through the paint job.

Thanks for the tip and compliment. Those rattle cans sure been pissing me off. Thanks for your concern on my leg surgery. It's the first of two that hopefully will prevent full knee replacement.
