Do not use washers. Some kits require one or 2 washers to get the nut where it belonhs but its obvious from those pics your tapers are WAY too far down the spindle holes to be the correct size. Right now those ball joints arent going to have any articulation at all because their too deep in the spindle. Follow the advice you got first and get the correct ball joints.
