If you got the first nut off you should have a washer with a bunch of holes all the way around it, its keyed in the groove in your spindle, pull it out and then remove the other spindle nut, it will have a small tit on it that has to line up in one of the holes in the lock washer, this keeps your spindle nuts from backing themselve out.
