One of the threads talks about lowering the inner pivot. It is said dropping the pivot as well as tall joints would be good, so I would think that .9" would be ok. The only issue I can see is the extra leverage the joint will have put on it. Even with the .5" I think I'd keep a close eye on wear and possible bending.
