The new 194 (not to be confused with the older series) was introduced in the '62 Nova as the first of the "3rd generation" sixes, and was not actually used in the trucks (neither was the 153). Trucks had a 230 or 292 from '63-'65 (model year), and the 250 came out and replaced the 230 in the '66 trucks.

Yes, I noted this in my previous post. Most just say that '63 4x4's came with the older engines, though; no one ever mentions it's actually a mid-year change and they used both in '63--that's my point (perhaps "huh" wasn't really the best choice of words for me to use there...

).
