Sometimes you have to experiment with assorted springs from the HELP! rack at the auto parts store. When the slight touch of your boot gives an extra 250 RPM -- your spring is too weak, if you get a charlie horse maintaining 65 on the freeway, the spring is too strong. Somewhere in there is just right.
I'm afraid I changed out the stock Monojet for a 4 Bbl carb in 1978, and I can't remember how the OEM stuff was rigged.
Maybe some restoration expert will chime in. At some point I turned HotRodder to stay alive on the road, and I never looked back except thru a pair of West Coast Junior mirrors.
