It's much easier to get one of the Ford's up that high because they came with straight axles during this period (and earlier). On our trucks the first step is putting new original springs in. If that isn't enough new/custom longer than stock springs will bring it up further. There is a practical limit before the front end can no longer be brought into alignment.

Back in the 60' & 70's when the nose high style was popular, there were spacers for the upper ball joints that allowed more front end travel. There are still both the spacer type, and the "C" style listed on Ebay for many popular models. If I remember correctly, only the "C" style allowed alignment adjustment. It would take some research to see if these would fit the upper ball joints in the 65 GMC truck.
