Bigblock, I am in the midst of installing a painless kit. The only socket replacements they include are the front headlights. All of the other sockets have to be re-used.
It's a great kit, and a pleasure to install (after I stare at the instructions long enough!)
Also, the old wiring harness makes for a great go-by.
Mike76251, don't mean to highjack your thread but I think bigblock should keep his harness until the new kit is fully installed.
Ground wires are also few and far between in the painless kit, so robbing from the old one is necesssary in certain circuits if you want to stay with black wires for grounds. There are plenty of spare wires that can also be used for grounds.
