I've never tried this, but could you just space the left trailing arm backwards/longer (at front where it bolts up), temporarily, to move the left end of the differential backwards? Easily reversed when you bag it.
Just reading, it sounds like rear end has been 'twisted'. A quick verification would be to measure the wheelbase on each side and compare.
