My first question would be if I purchase a long bed, how labor intensive is the short bed conversion process? I see the build threads all the time and try to study them, but unfortunately I have moved halfway across the country and don't have the shop anymore to build my own.

Is it possible that some shops would want to tackle a project like this? I am coming from a total rookie perspective and just looking for more help in my quest for obtaining my dream truck. Thank you in advance!
Find a shop that does frame work (welding & repair).

If you find can that & they get it cut down to length, it's a matter of.....

swapping to swb gas tanks or a burb/blazer/aftermarket tank (swb have shorter length 16gal tanks)
cutting brake lines to length (hydraulic) splicing as required as well as re-configuring the e-brake cables
cutting the rear drive shaft (to length) + re-balancing
swapping a short bed in place of the long bed

Labor intensive? Yes. If it was easy, more people might have them....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
