I'm still building but I am using the stock frame in my LS powered 1950. I boxed the first 3rd of the frame, added a Fatman IFS, put in a TCI leaf kit, and have an 8.8 limited slip rear from an explorer. You can check out my build for ideas if you want. I'm still aways from the road though.
