"Triangle mount" mirrors as you call them are not very common on the passenger side, but as far as I know, ALL trucks had them on the drivers side. I say all because even trucks factory equipped with the larger West coast style mirrors had the standard triangle provisions in the drivers door plugged with filler screws.
Have you pulled the driver door panel and looked inside your door for the mirror mounts? I bet they are there. If not, I am learning something here.
