Most trailers are powder coated now days. Look at a powder coated trailer after a few years. Like said above they get a scratch or chip in the coating and from there the rust travels under the coating and it all starts flaking and peeling. My '57 has the aforementioned 2 part epoxy/chassis paint on it and I'm nothing but happy with it. The epoxy primer is tough as nails
