Neither of the manual throttle assemblies I have, have threaded knobs, they both use set screws as shown it the picture. I am using a W/W knob for one of them. You can see how much shorter it is. The coarse threads on the shafts are for fine tuning the throttle setting. You can screw the knob in or out to change the setting of the RPM slightly. Zepp, If your throttle knob has a set screw I'm betting it doesn't have threads either.... I don't see a set screw in either picture but it may be hidden.

The second picture is of the choke cable. In the picture you can see two small flats on the shaft. That is so you can hold the cable to unscrew the knob. I use needle nose pliers to hold it.
