You can't tell from the picture but someone, it looks like many years ago doing a very good job of it, spliced in 2 extra feet onto the chassis. That is why I found that yellow 12' flatbed, came off a 59' Chevy 2-ton, to install on it.
What sort of custom cab are you suggesting?
My interest in this truck has waned a little because it is non-power steering, has an I6 230 motor, and is a little too long for what I want...plus I have this 66' GMC with a big block 351E V6, power steering, power brake assist, from the factory that I would like to build out and make a driver that I will like a little better I think. I have a 65' GMC 1/2 ton that I want to switch out the cab with...it has some rust too but not anything like the 66'. The 66' has this nice wood bed I repaired already so it will be a better driver for me, you need to be Arnold Swartzennegger to steer the 64'.
I might try to trade the out the 64' for something more fun.
