1) is there any reason not to use drop spindles to lower the front end? No reason not to... even with air in the bags going down the road the A arms will be level. They are not much more $$$
2) is there a specific spindle that you would recommend? Many out there to choose from ...shop around for a good deal
3) do you recommend setting up the frame with a rake? Personal opinion. I like 1"
4) am I on the right track to achieve the low stance with a good ride?
Yes but remember where you weld the clip on will determine much of this...the higher the clip the lower the ride with out using bags
