The 6.2 is a great motor for a 1/2 ton truck. It doesn't work very hard to motivate it, so the truck has a the power of a 350 and fuel economy of a Honda! The 700R4 further helps the diesel with a better gear selection. The 6.2 was originally developed for economy and this is where is shines.
A member here had a 2wd suburban with the same engine/trans/gears and with a little tweaking could get 30 mpgs on the highway. Not bad for a rolling brick!
