My 84 light truck data book power team page shows the 7.4 Liter LE8 engine available in 1 ton 4wd regular and crew cab trucks.

EDIT- They started putting the 7.4 in K30 pickups in 1982 according to my factory brochures. /EDIT

The 454 was NOT available in 3/4 ton 4WD pickups or 4wd suburbans until after this series of trucks was gone.

Also, 1977 was the first year for the K30/K3500 (chevy/GMC) or the first year of true 1 ton 4wd pickups for GM at least in this body style.

Along with this, you couldn't get a 400 small block in a 2wd truck...
Your right...I'm flaking.
It's only the burbs you couldn't get a 4wd 454 till 93. The trucks it was available.

That's something I didn't know. I knew some folks with a 400 truck (at least if had a 400 badge on the grill) but I could have sworn it was a 2wd but it's been almost 20 years since I saw that truck.
