Removal of instrument cluster

Let me first say that I am like a farm boy in physics class when it comes to working on my truck but I am hooked and can't stop wanting to work on it.

That leads me to this.
I know this has been addressed and I have tried to find and read all the post I could about it but I have hit a roadblock.

I have unhooked my speedometer from the dash to replace the dash lights.
When I put the speedometer back in it makes that famous annoying noise.

I can drive with the speedometer unhooked from the cable and there is no noise. So I'm thinking that the cable is fine.

Am I putting the actual speedometer back on wrong or does it just simply plus back in?

Any help on what steps to take next would be great.
I know this type of situation has bee addressed 1000 times I just can't seem to understand.

Thanks For Any Help.
