The 71 does not have a grill. When I saw the price of the grill and grill insert I was blown away for what they want for a piece of stamped tin. I figure I have all the sheet metal including the grill for the 70 so why not swap all of it over.
*Somebody* swaped in 5 lug disc brakes with lowering spindles. I am guessing they had to have come fromy a 71 or 72 but is it possible they came from a 73 on? If the spindles are correct for 71 and 72 I'm going to use them because I'm guessing 73 on I would have to take more than the spindles.
The power steering is a no brainer.

It's possible they are 73 spindles, but I think that if someone went to the trouble to put drop spindles on they probably put the right ones on seeings how it already had disc brakes in 71 standard. Better if they are not 73 as the 73 has a wider track width. You DO have 5 lug rear, right?
I have never seen a good deal price-wise (I'm cheap) on a new "grill surround"; I paid 125$ for a used one 18 years ago. Here's a used one on craigslist that if I needed one, I'd probably buy this one (not mine). You might offer him less and see what happens, I never pay asking price on craigslist. Notice on the ad that it includes R and L mounting brackets and center brace, IMO that's a good deal even better if you need those mounts (the mounts are pricey new or used).

Or a "not perfect" one for 30$ (those are easy to straighten and brush polish).

I'd try to get the "not perfect" one and see if you think you can straighten it. Then, wait for a deal on a repop plastic center. The inserts look nice painted flat black, easy to do on a new one just don't touch it after you take it out of the box. Depending on the color of your truck, it would be interesting to see someone paint them the color of the truck. Mine looks great black because the truck is white.
They sell Chinese re-pops on craigslist from time to time reasonably priced, you have to keep an eye out for them (it's how I got mine for about 75$).
I would not bother with a used grill insert unless it was 25$ or less with no cracks or breaks.
Then turn around and sell the 70 stuff at a swap meet or craigslist to maybe recoup some of the expenditure.
