Re: New tow pig
Nice lookin' Yukon. Take plenty of $$ along if you're gonna tow very far. I've had an '02 GMC crewcab 2wd, 6.0, 3.73 since it was new. 175,000mi. now with very few mechanical problems. Been a good vehicle. I've towed open car trailers, boats, utility trailers, enclosed 24' car trailers, 18', 26' and 37' Travel trailers. Towing nothing at 70 mph or so it'll give almost 15mpg but not hardly. I towed an 18' travel trailer to Atlanta for the race in Feb. and got 7.9 mpg, at around 70mph 'cause we were in a hurry and had a lot of camping stuff. It doesn't like to stay in OD towing and if you let it shift in and out the trans. temp gauge will climb. If you manually take it out of OD it's turning 2700-3000 and suckin' gas in 1 to 1 ratio 3rd gear. It's comfortable, reliable and been paid for for a long time. I don't tow enough to warrant spending $50,000+ on a new Duramax.
My Son in Nashville has an '02 Denali with quadrasteer that's not working and can't find anybody that will fix it.
