I have a '63, I dropped mine 5 inches in the rear using the jeep TJ springs, and 2" blocks made from steel square tubing. No c-notch was needed. I just cut the bump stops down so they were slightly lower than the frame. I also have a rear mounted 14 gallon gas tank and it doesn't cause any problems.

Oh and I replaced the stock panhard bar with an adjustable.

I can't put a ton of weight in the rear though.
