New Longhorn

I finally have a real reason to spend time here, I went to see a 71 Longhorn last night and just had to buy it.

I looked at many many 67-72 trucks in the last month and most were pretty rusty and lots of missing parts. It seems that, unlike today, 99% of trucks sold in the 60's and 70's were put to hard labor and have the battle scars to show for it. The longhorn was sold to people who put a camper in the back and drove it occasionally while having it in storage the rest of the time. All of the longhorns I saw (there are still 2 others on CL and one local) have minimal rust damage and seem like they have much less wear and tear than their shorter brothers. Heck the original wood bed is still in pretty good condition.

The only issue with the truck I bought is a previous owner decided to remove all of the trim and moldings then bondo'd up the holes. after that he gave it a rattle can flat black paint job. The original color is school bus yellow so I would have had it repainted anyway and I figured it would be easy enough to pop the holes open if I wanted to add the trim again, though I kind of like the clean sides. Also the dash was cut for a modern radio and the doors were cut for speakers.

Anyhow here are some pictures of the truck:

Woohoo, a Big Block!
