Interesting find!
When I built my motor, I switched to dual electric fan and shroud from a Windstar. I used a solenoid off a Cavalier (recall unit for starter), and a thermostatic switch out of a FWD 2.8L V6 GM somethinorother, and it works great!
Though I think it might still run too cold while I'm moving....
