That might work. My 1965 would "over-adjust" on one side and then get stuck, and I would have to crawl under and back it off.

I finally just turned the doo-hickeys at the bottom end for end so it became manual adjust only

Also could be the one drum is froze to the shoes In that case you will have to jack it up, take off the wheel, and heat the outside of the drum with a torch until it pops. I once made a trailer out of an old truck frame and when I got all ready to pull it, one side was froze up like that
